Colonic Irrigation – Those two words would have normally put the fear of God into me or I would have burst out laughing in my prime, but the journey that I have had over the past two years with the Menopause has proved that you can never judge something until you have tried it… I know that our gut has a lot to do with even how our mind works,
I truly believe that going for any type of treatment is so important to have recommendations or testimonials, especially one quite so invasive, personal treatment like Colonic Irrigation. I was so lucky that I was in the brilliant hand (rubber gloved may I add) of Joanna Mclean @thecleanse.co.uk as
Joanna has been a friend for many years and I knew she had started the Colonic Clinic years previously but never dreamt I would be one of her customers.
I was told to drink plenty of water for a couple of days leading up to the appointment. I arrived at the clinic which was soothing and calm, even smelt amazing!!. The rooms had very strange looking beds, even though they seem a bit clinical they are comfortable but necessary for the procedure. The bed actually has what looks like a built-in loo with areas to rest your legs upon. Next, to this, an array of taps and what looked like a cistern box next to them .. a very visible clear fairly large tube to carry the waste could be seen next to the bed/chair. I did take in two magazines but can honestly say that they were never looked probably as I was concentrating and surprised at what was happening… There was audible music being played, loud enough for any “odd” sounds to be masked and at the crucial moment in my treatment “ Respect” started to play and this made me laugh out loud.
I was asked to insert the tube, which had gel applied, a small way (2 cms) into the rectum, I then called Joanna ( there was also a bell to press !) to say I was ready and eagerly waiting for the next step which was the turning on of the taps! Joanna calmly talked me through every second of the procedure and spoke about her experiences with “tummy problems” and her belief is that stress can cause many of these problems as well as some bad dietary habits. After the taps were turned on I felt a pleasant sensation of luke-warm water going into my colon and preparing for the irrigation. I was then told to gently push the water out which I must say was the weirdest sensation and I was gripping onto the cute heart shaped hot water bottle that she had given me to place on my tummy, over the paper blanket that would hide my modesty! Joanna was constantly reassuring and
I must admit some of the pains were quite uncomfortable and then I had the almighty sensation, that I probably last felt 16 years ago, giving birth to my youngest and Wow did I go .. I can honestly say that this was the most surreal moment but at the same time I really felt I was sending my colon off to have a holiday in the sun!!
I had a calm feeling sweep over me. I had this experience again and I felt completely brilliant. Oh how my colon must be feeling, I actually felt that I had betrayed my body by allowing months of medication and food to back-up my body.
I do know that I need to see Joanna again in the next week as she wants me to return feeling calm again… I couldn’t have asked for a better person than Joanna as she was calming, funny and really caring.. She gave me water and a Probiotic to take immediately after the treatment. I felt really quite calm and very floaty !! oh and I did get quite shivery and felt cold but that’s apparently what happens once your body expels all the toxins.
I had to stay in the clinic for a good 15-20 mins after my treatment as I wanted to make sure I wasn’t going to go again due to a car journey. Thankfully I made it home without any ‘pits stops’ and my friend Alfreda who was with me said looked relaxed and my face looked refreshed? Relieved,
When I returned home I felt really calm and chilled and I actually weighed myself and was shocked to discover that I lost 4lb just having the colonic, I hastily texted Joanna and asked if it was right? She cheekily replied “Yep, Best kept secret ever… “
After a light supper of steamed haddock, lots of
After rewarding my body of this treatment, which I also believe has cleansed my mind as well, I will really try my hardest to consciously consider what goes in and how the body works. Our body really is a temple.
So go on all you Hot Flush Women, I urge you to give it a go, if I can do this, then you all can too. So source your local clinic and tell us of your experience. It will be interesting to hear if you have had a similar experience to me.
