There has been lots of talk around this condition and still we are hearing of GP failing to refer women for urgent diagnosis. This condition is painful and can cause fertility issues if left undiagnosed.
I was diagnosed when I was 33 years after many years of infertility and pain every month . I had already been told that I had a biocornate uterus and was probably the reason I had trouble conceiving , then subsequent miscarriages. The back pain I was having was intense and the bloating every month was so obvious but no GP had mentioned anything about Endometriosis. I eventually had a key hole surgery . Laparoscopic camera and it was then that adhesions were noted and endometriosis was diagnosed and this was after years of pain and symptoms .
I apparently had these adhesions around my bowel area and they believed , why the pain in the back , was so severe . Please insist on treatment do not leave this for years and if you have to get a second opinion. I thankfully went on to have another child and now in menopause the pain and bloating has gone as my periods have gone ! One saviour with the menopause. No more periods and pain .
